My Roots

Don't freak out... It's only my hair.

My hair is naturally a dark ash blonde or if your southern dirty dish water blonde.  For years I have dyed and fried my hair.  Red, brown, and every shade of blonde imaginable have taken residence on my scalp for over 10 years.  However I feel that the time has come to let my roots show. I also see my roots as a line of victory inching further and further down my head.  I have also tried for 10 years to grow my hair out past my shoulders.  No matter how hard I try I seem to freak out just as my hair grazes the tops of my shoulders and on impulse chop it all off.

This is not to say that long hair is better than short hair or natural colored hair is more beautiful than dyed hair but, for me I want to return to my roots.  I am starting a new adventure in August, going to graduate school, and I want to start it fresh and clean. Because of this urge to start a new my will power will stay strong.  Now matter how ridiculous I look or how hot my head gets my hair will prevail!

I think it is important everyone once in a while to "go back to your roots".  Remind yourself where you came from of the kid you once were.  It was only when I started listening to other people did I start losing the person that I am. It is not a matter of what people think of you but what you think of your self. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.  Remember your roots and you won't give your consent.

Oprah's got nothing on me!

So in order to keep track of the books I read as well as sharing my reading experience with the rest of the world I am going to start blogging about the "literary" works that pass through my hands.

The first book for this project is Armageddon 2419 A.D. by Philip Francis Nowlan.

This book was recommended to me by my mother.  Apparently this book is the one of the first science fiction novel  & inspiration for the Buck Rogers comic strip.

While I Was Working.

As a substitute teacher I have very little responsibility.  Let's face it.  Unless the teacher wants me to teach something, which is rare, I am a glorified babysitter. This relief from responsibility allows me to pursue such activities as reading, web surfing (school approved sites only), and even coloring!
This picture is one I got off of the Disney website.  I colored it with Crayola Crayons (only the best) and I decided to color it to resemble my funky friend Elder.  As you can see Alice is sporting a pair of black footless tights, a black top and flower patterned skirt.  The whole outfit is rounded out with a crisp, red apron.

Yes, they pay me to do this.

The Revenge of the Mucus!

I am amazed how a slight tickle of the throat Wednesday morning can so swiftly and efficiently turn into an all out war on my body by Friday afternoon.  I am at the most unattractive I have ever been but at least I can blame it on the cold and not the lack of mascara.  *COUGH HACK WHEEZE*

On the bright side I have a solid excuse to do nothing this weekend but sit in my pajamas and veg (drinking liquids and taking multiple medicines of course.)   I was able to catch up on Lost and prepare myself for this evening's series finale.  Bring it on Smokey!  I just hope that there are answers at the end and not more questions.

Let the vegging resume!

Look to the sky!

Is it the moon?

                                                                                 Is it a star?

                                                                         Superman?

Sorry to disappoint all of you comic book fans.  This evening at 8:36pm the Space Shuttle and Space Station orbited earth right above my house!  The astronauts waved at my dad and I in our jammies as we took pictures and stared at the floating dot with binoculars.    Fascinating images... I know....

Animal Nails!

I got some new nail paint last night and got a little crazy.

This is my very first stab at nail art so I went for a simple line pattern to create an animal/zebra print.
I used the new Sally Hansen  Salon Manicure gold polish for the base and then some black nail polish for the lines.

Its polish perfect!

In The Beginning

It is said that God created the world in 6 days taking the 7th off for a bit of a nap.

I created Leenadena in 2 hours. Now granted the world is much more complicated with its sloths and Lost series finales but, Leenadena is global warming free and a place where all ideas, notions, thoughts, impressions, opinions, and schemes are accepted.

The more creative the more exciting.

So, maybe consider throwing some glitter on that idea.
